Soma is located on the the Pacific Coast of Nicaragua in Central America, which is known for its consistent waves due to the prevailing offshore winds that blow approximately 300 days of the year. The conditions stay clean most of the day due to these winds, thus allowing the flexibility to enjoy other activities or experience a different part of Nicaragua. There are a variety of point and beach breaks for surfers of all ability levels, with more than 10 world class surf breaks all within 35 minutes accessible by car or boat from soma. Two Surf Seasons

There are typically two seasons in Nicaragua and both are suitable for surfing.

The dry season from November – April is hot, dry, and windy with virtually no rain. This is when the waves are smaller and the water is cooler. The are fewer tourists and it is an ideal time for beginners. A spring suit or wet suit is recommended at times.

The wet season is May-September. It is when Nicaragua receives all the Southern swells, and the surf is the most consistent and powerful. This is when most surfers plan their trips due to the excellent conditions.

Surf Lessons

Everybody wants to learn to surf. It’s fun! It’s something to experience at least once. Soma offers surf lesson for all ages and skill levels. Beginners will be catching waves and standing on their first lesson and more advance students can learn techniques to improve their performance. Soma has top notch instructors with international experience and vast knowledge about the ocean, and wave dynamics. We provide everything you need. Come and try us out for an unforgettable experience!

Surf Board Rentals and Daily Surf Packages

Surf beaches in Nicaragua

Airlines are charging outrageous fees. Boards get lost or damaged.

Avoid all that hassle and travel light. We have shortboards, fishes, step-ups, funboards, and guns in both poly/pu and epoxy. Sizes range from 6’0″ to 8’4″, made by Rusty, Channel Islands, Patagonia, and Kane Garden.

$20 All day board rentals

$25 per person per session for guiding and transport to local surf breaks.

Getting to the Surf Breaks

To reach difficult to access surf spots, we can also arrange half or full day boat trips.
